Four teams in for the LoL Worlds knock out rounds are set. And after a disappointing performance in the second round robin of Group A, the StatXP pre-tournament favorite is not one of them! We’ll have a more thorough look at Flash Wolves disappointing exit later this week, but for now, the Elo model is humbled. And has already moved on to new favorites KT Rolster and Invictus Gaming.

Due to it’s remarkably high Elo rating entering the tournament, FW is nearly guaranteed to win the unfortunate title of highest ranked team not to make the knockout rounds. And G2 is poised to be the lowest ranked team to continue playing into this weekend.

After two days of relative chaos provided by Groups A and B, Groups C and D could give us relative calm over the next two days. The next set of games will close out Group C. The StatXP model expects the trend from the first round robin to hold, with KT Rolster finishing first and EDward Gaming finishing second. Given their winless record, MAD Team’s tournament is probably already over. Team Liquid could get back into knockout round contention by channeling their North American compatriot, Cloud9, and upsetting a higher ranked Asian team. StatXP gives them a 31% chance of upsetting KT and a 32% chance of upsetting EDG.
